iPhones are popular for their best features and one the most famous features of iPhone is its camera. iPhone cameras are getting popular due to their good quality. Even the professional photographers are taking interest in iPhone photography and named it as “IPhoneography”.
In this article, I will talk about the basic iPhone camera instructions and everything you need to know in order to get maximum benefit from your iPhone camera.
Basic instructions for iPhone camera
To take a photo you just have to launch the camera of your iPhone and tap on the white circular button (not the home button, it is an icon above the home button) at the bottom of the screen.
iPhone has two cameras in it, one front faced and second rear camera. To switch your cameras between front and rear there is an icon like a camera with a rotation symbol on it at the top right corner of the screen. Tap on it and use whichever camera you need.
There is timer icon next to the camera icon at top right. It is used to set the timer for the photos so you could be able to set a time to take your photo.
At the top left, you will see an icon like lightning, it is used to turn on, off and auto turn on the flash light for the camera. Photos taken in low light are of bad quality. You can use flash light when required to adjust the light to take a normal photo.
At the bottom left, there is a square with your recent photo on it. Tap on it to access your gallery from your camera.
At the bottom right, you will see three little circles overlapping each other in different shades. This icon is used to access filters, tap on it and you will get a list of filters with the preview of the screen, tap on any filter that you like to take your photos.
While taking pictures you can also focus on some object that you want to enhance. To focus a photo, tap on the object on your camera screen and it will automatically focus that object for you.
If you want to manually focus the objects in your photos in photo mode, tap anywhere on the screen for 3-4 seconds and it will turn off automatic focusing of objects. To get back to auto mode, tap once on your camera screen.
At top left, you will see an icon of HDR. Tap to turn it on when you need it. HDR can take multiple photos with different exposures and merge these into one to give you the best result. If you want to take a photo of a tree and the sky, the normal photo will look like a dark colored tree and very bright sky due to the different light exposure but with HDR, your camera will automatically adjust the exposure to light.
HDR can also save all the photos taken to merge that one perfect photo but you don’t need to keep all the other photos when you already have the best one. So, you can turn off automatic saving of photos to save space. For that go to the Settings at home screen, click on Photo and Camera and at the bottom turn off Keep normal Photos.
If you want to take a burst of photos of a moving object to get the best photo. You will just have to hold the white circular button as long as you want to take the photos and it will take a lot of photos continuously.
Now you can access these photo from the gallery icon in camera and view the photos. There will be empty circles on each photo, select the photos you want to keep and the other photos will be automatically removed from the photos. You can save all of the photos, selected photos or none at all. It is your choice.
Here begins the most interesting part of an iPhone camera, the modes. There are different modes of iPhone camera that includes video, slo-mo, pano, and square. Swipe your finger around these modes to switch between the modes.
In video mode, you can simply make the video. Just tap on the red record button when you want to record the video and tap on the same button when you want to stop and your video will be automatically saved in the gallery.
In the square mode, it will take a square photo of you so you could easily upload it on social sites like Instagram without cropping the photo.
Pano mode that is panorama mode will help you take a photo of a wide range. Hold your phone vertically, swipe to the panorama mode and slowly move across the object that you want to capture. Tap Done when you fully capture the object.
You can capture panorama from left to right or right to left as per your requirements. There will be an arrow in the panorama mode, you can use it to adjust the panorama mode.
Slo-Mo is used to capture videos in slow motion. It smoothly reduces the speed of video to 1/4th. Just swipe to the Slo-Mo and hit the red record button, when you are done, hit the red button again to stop.
Slow motion makes the videos look more dramatic than a normal video. Even if you reduce the speed of your video to 1/4th it will not be as smooth as in Slo-Mo.
